Launched 16th January, 1987
1,500 Mini Park Lane's were sold in the UK
UK cars sold in Black
Cost when new - £4,194
Another 2,500 Mini Park Lane's were sold in export markets - 700 were sold in Japan, where Mini Park Lane's were also sold in bright Red with white/cream decals.
The
fourth and final installment of the 'London Collection' themed
Limited Edition Mini's was the Mini Park Lane. Continuing the
standard set by the preceeding Mini Piccadilly, the Mini Park
Lane excelled at being even more special than all previous
Limited Edition Mini's. Dominated by the solid Black paint on the
body, the very bold 'Park Lane' graphics unusally appeared low on
the doors and rear side panels, and on the bootlid. Chrome
external trim was again in evidence on the bumpers and door
furniture. 12" steel wheels with full diameter silver
plastic trims and a chrome locking petrol cap completed the
exterior.
Making a
welcome return were black wheelarch extensions and sill trims,
rather than the usual Nimbus grey of the period. Inside the car
the bold 'Park Lane' graphics were repeated on the front seats
and the exclusivity continued with a stripy interior trimmed in
Coffee-Beige plain velvet and Black sculptured velvet.
Colour-keyed Coffee seat belts and door
casings in Coffee vinyl and Black PVC were also featured.
Completing the interior for the first time were Syndym tinted
windows (including chrome framed opening rear side windows) and a
factory fitted push-button LW/MW radio/stereo cassette player
with twin speakers mounted on the rear parcel shelf.
The Mini Park Lane was the first Limited Edition Mini to feature an alloy sports steering wheel unique only to Japanese export models.
